How to disable Auto Run
Auto run feature installed on a Windows function to run automatically without the removable disk and double click to open it again, but we know this can be dangerous if in the drive there is a virus that will run and infect our computers automatically with the passage of this autorun feature lots of new viruses that use this autorun feature to infect a target computer, then to prevent this happening and disabled auto run feature, roughly following steps:
If you are using XP Pro (XP Professional Edition)
* Click Start -> Run * Type gpedit.msc and click OK * Group Policy window will appear. * On the left side, double-click Administrative Templates * On the right, double-click System * Scroll down the list in it and double-click Turn Off Autoplay * In the Turn Off Autoplay Properties window, select Enabled. * Dropdown next to Turn Off Autoplay on, select All drives and then click OK * Quit the Group Policy by selecting File, then select the Exit menu
If you are using XP Home (XP Home Edition)
* You can change the contents of the register by clicking Start -> Run * Type regedit and click OK. * Registry Editor window will appear * On the left side, navigate to: o HKEY_CURRENT_USER: o Software o Microsoft o Windows o CurrentVersion o Policies o Explorer * When in Explorer, right-click the value NoDriveTypeAutoRun * Select Modify from the drop down menu. Basic values will be set to Hexadecimal form or select Hexadecimal. * Type 95 and click OK. * The above will only disable autorun from a USB or removable devices. If you want to disable autorun CD-ROM drives as well, you can replace the 95 with B5. * Exit the Registry Editor by selecting File, then select the Exit menu * You can restart your computer to effect the changes. nah hopefully useful
